22 January 2018

Prescott water and sewer systems under scrutiny.

Road closure in Cottonwood

Watch for delays on 7th Street in Cottonwood due to a road closure today.  The closure will take place at the intersection of Mingus Avenue.  Mingus will provide through traffic at this intersection but all turning movements to and from 7th Street will be prohibited.  The closure went into effect at 7 this morning and the roadway is expected to be opened back up by 5 tonight.  For driver traveling in the area of Aspen Street and Mingus, a detour is set up at 12th Street and Brian Mickelsen Parkway to get around the closure.  All local businesses will be open during construction.

A look at the water and sewer systems in Prescott

The Prescott City Council will hear a presentation on a design build project at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon.  According to City Manager Michael Lamar, the City of Prescott has 128 remote sites that control various booster pump stations, water storage tanks and sewer lift stations to provide water and sewer service to the community.  The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System is used for monitoring, control and alarming within these systems.  The acquisition systems have been integrated into projects in the last 7 or 8 years when facilities are upgraded or replaced.  Older sites don’t have this integration.  Lamar says the goal of this project is to modernize the acquisition system through an integrated project delivery, design build approach for all the City’s water and sewer sites.  The meeting will be held in Council chambers on South Cortez Street.  Prior to this meeting, Council will meet at 1 in the Lower Level Conference Room at City Hall for discussion on City water rights and agreements.  This meeting is closed to the public.
