Senator Highway (County Road 56) Road Maintenance Activities on the Bradshaw Ranger District

Beginning Monday October 30, 2023, The Prescott National Forest, working in conjunction with the Yavapai County Public Works Department, will begin road work on Senator Highway (C56) at approximately Mile Marker 10.4.

Years of harsh weather and use along Senator Hwy has caused extensive damage, washed-out sections narrowing the road in some locations making earth walls unstable. The project will improve road safety by widening a narrow section with steep drop-offs.

Construction is expected to continue through November 3, 2023.

The road construction will require the intermittent closure of Senator Highway (C56) near mile marker 8.9 and 10.8 and Walker Road (C57) near mile marker 11. Closures may be lengthy, lasting up to an hour or more throughout the day. Work hours are from 7:00AM to 5:30PM. Work will consist of debris removal from the road.

Residents and Emergency personnel beyond mile marker 8.9 of Senator Highway are encouraged to use Walker Road (C57) to minimize delays if they need access.

During construction, motorists are expected to respect and follow temporary traffic control measures which may include but not limited to temporary traffic signs, signals, and flagging operations.

For additional information on the project, you can contact the Prescott National Forest Supervisory Engineer Ryan Nicholson via email at Ryan.Nicholson2@usda.gov , or Yavapai County Public Works via email at web.public.works@yavapaiaz.gov.
