Prescott Police Department Officer Arrested for Domestic Violence

In the early morning hours of September 22, 2023, the Prescott Police Department responded to a local hospital on a delayed report of an assault. The victim initially reported that she was assaulted in the downtown area by an unknown suspect. During this investigation our officers learned that she may have been assaulted by her live-in boyfriend and fiancé, Anthony Taylor, who is a patrol officer with our department.

We requested assistance from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and asked that they conducted the criminal investigation. Detectives and a Sergeant from the Sheriff’s Office interviewed all of the parties involved and based on those interviews and physical evidence, probable cause existed to arrest Anthony Taylor.

Anthony Taylor was subsequently arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on one (1) count of Aggravated Assault per Domestic Violence. The victim was treated for her injuries and has been released from the hospital.

This investigation is the responsibility of the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and any information regarding this case can be addressed to their office for comment.

We have no further information at this time. As per policy, at the conclusion of the criminal investigation there will be an internal investigation conducted by our Professional Standards Unit. Officer Taylor has been placed on administrative leave.
