The local chapter of Yavapai County’s Conservatives for a Constitutional Republic (ConCR) has announced that candidates for the two open seats for LD1 State Representative, Quang Nguyen and Selina Bliss, will speak at their upcoming meeting Saturday, November 23, 2019, 11 AM, at the VFW in Prescott Valley. Both describe themselves as conservative Republicans who support traditional Republican principles of limited government, free markets, and personal freedom.
Correction: Unfortunately we had some mis-information in the previously published version of Mr. Nguyen's bio. Here is the corrected statement: Mr. Nguyen has a compelling personal story as a Vietnamese refugee who arrived in America with his family as a 12-year-old who spoke no English. He graduated from Long Beach State with a BA in Technology Education. He settled in Prescott, raised a family, and became active in conservative causes, including the Yavapai County Tea Party movement. In 2010, he worked in the Congressional campaign of Rusty Bowers. He later helped found the Patriot Network. He frequently speaks at local patriotic events and to Veterans groups around the country on Americanism and the importance of the 2nd amendment to political freedom.
We apologise for any confusion this may have caused. - Editor
Selina Bliss is a long time resident of Prescott where she has resided since 1971 and raised her family. She has a PhD in nursing and has made her career in health care. Her personal goals include improving Arizona’s health care system and bringing accountability and transparency to state government. She is committed to preserving and protecting personal and constitutional freedoms. She cites a family tradition of public service and a desire to give back to the community as key motivations for seeking public office.
The Yavapai County chapter of Conservatives for a Constitutional Republic is a group of conservative activists dedicated to defending and promoting the values of representative government set forth in the United States Constitution. The group is a private organization and is not directly affiliated with any political group. However, most members are registered Republicans or conservative leaning Independents who are civically engaged or are current or former elected officials or candidates for office.
The group meets monthly at 11 AM at the VFW in Prescott Valley. Recent speakers include Arizona GOP Chair, Dr. Kelli Ward, Congressman Paul Gosar (CD4), Congressman Andy Biggs (CD5), former Secretary of State Ken Bennett, and most recently, conservative candidate for the U.S. Senate, Daniel McCarthy. ConCR is a membership organization. However, in the interest of introducing LD1 candidates to the voters, their talk has been opened to the general public. Admission is free but seating is limited and an RSVP is requested. The VFW is located at 2375 N 5th Street, Prescott Valley.
Both Mr. Nguyen and Ms. Bliss, will discuss their personal backgrounds, their political values, and the specific goals they hope to accomplish as lawmakers. Time will be reserved for questions from the audience. Both candidates will have their petitions available for those who wish to support their candidacy.
ConCR President Jim Dutton invites “solid conservatives looking for an organization that reflects their values” to attend Saturday's meeting. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
