Important message to property owners, and private snow plow operators:

The City of Prescott Department of Public Service reminds you that moving snow out of driveways and parking lots is unsafe, and illegal.

Do not shovel snow back onto the roadway. It is dangerous and you could be held liable in the event of an accident. Arizona State Statute 12-2906 states that "obstructing a highway or other public thoroughfare is a class 3 misdemeanor."

School Delay & Closure Information

Prescott Unified School District School  Snow Day details. Closed. Note from Superintendent Joe Howard:

"The Prescott Unified School District #1 will be closed for a snow day tomorrow 2/21/2019. We have been closely monitoring one of the largest forecasted snow events in recent history, as well as participating in City briefings throughout the day. PUSD is grateful to the leadership and work of the City of Prescott Departments, Police and Fire as our community prepares for a possible large snowfall. Our decision is based on the best information that we have right now, and is an effort to give our families time to plan for the possible snow. The forecast shows snow falling throughout the night, with some of the highest amounts of accumulation possibly occurring throughout the day on Thursday. From a timing perspective, it is always our hope to avoid being in a situation where students are in school when conditions become questionable for traveling back home. The forecast shows low temperatures and low snow melt. Highway closures throughout the area are also being considered at this time.

"We will continue to monitor forecasts and road conditions as we consider plans for school on Friday. Please stay tuned to our website for updates.  #snowday "
