YCSO Seeking Counterfeit Currency Suspects

YCSO deputies seek suspects passing counterfeit money.

On October 13, 2018, around 7:30 PM, YCSO deputies were dispatched to the Family Dollar store in Cordes Lakes, 19600 block of E Hitching Post Way, regarding a fraud report.

The reporting party told deputies that a couple came into the store around 6:30 PM, and after shopping came to the register to pay with cash. The couple was captured on camera footage. The male was described as Caucasian, about 6 feet tall, grey buzzed hair, a goatee, and wearing a black jacket. The female was described as dark skinned, approximately 5'5" with bleached blond shoulder length hair, wearing a black shirt and athletic black pants. They made separate transactions at the register, each paying with a fraudulent $100 bill. The register employee was unsure of the authenticity of the currency initially until review by supervisor who confirmed the bills were counterfeit. Deputies also confirmed the bills were counterfeit based on several missing security features.

The female suspect told the clerk they were from Phoenix, heading toward Prescott Valley. Both suspects can be seen on camera with multiple hundred dollar bills in their wallets. The suspect’s vehicle was not seen.

If anyone has information on the identity and/or whereabouts of these suspects, please call the Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260 or report a tip anonymously to Yavapai Silent Witness, 1800-932-3232.
