PHOENIX— In observance of Patriot Day and in honor of the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken during the 9/11 terrorist attacks on our nation 17 years ago, Governor Doug Ducey has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, from sunrise to sunset. "Today, America comes together in solemn remembrance of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks," said Governor Ducey.

"On that day, the world watched as our country lost nearly 3,000 lives in the greatest act of violence and terrorism ever perpetrated on American soil.

"Seventeen years removed, images and memories of the attacks are still fresh in our minds.

"As we mourn every life lost and recall the evil of that day, we also remember the extraordinary patriotism, bravery and sacrifice of so many police officers, firefighters, first responders and good Samaritans who ran toward danger and gave their lives to save others.

"Today, Arizona’s sincerest prayers and thoughts go out to all those who lost a loved one on 9/11, to the families of those who have fallen in defense of this great nation, and to everyone who continues to serve our fellow Americans on the front lines — at home and abroad.

"As we reflect on September 11, 2001, let us stand firm in our nation’s ideals and ensure that we never forget the lessons of that day.

"And may that day serve as a reminder to the world that the resolve of the American people will never be broken."
