Prescott Fire engines responded to a single vehicle rollover accident on White Spar Road Thursday in an effort to assist Southern Yavapai Fire with the extrication of the single occupant. The first arriving engine found a Toyota Forerunner on its roof, with the driver’s arm pinned under the roof outside of the vehicle. The engine company was able to use their Rescue 42 vehicle stabilization equipment in conjunction with their hydraulic tools to lift the vehicle into the air and off of the driver’s arm.
The driver, a man in his 50’s, had been seat belted at the time of the crash. He had additional injuries beyond the hand injury and it was deemed necessary to fly the patient by helicopter for further treatment. Despite the intense storms at the time, a Native Air helicopter was able to land at the scene and then fly the driver to a Phoenix trauma center. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to the incident.
