Prescott Valley cancels fireworks show due to extreme dry conditions; food, games and live entertainment to go on at Civic Center

After 22 years of successful and safe fireworks displays, Town of Prescott Valley Manager Larry Tarkowski regretfully shared the decision on Monday to cancel this year's show.

Although the fireworks had been permitted by the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority and the Town had plans for added patrol and fire protection, historic dry conditions, the lack of forecast rain and extreme fire danger through the coming week led to the decision. Tarkowski said the fireworks show will be moved to the Town's 40th Anniversary Pinnacle Weekend on Saturday, August 25.

The Town still will have a day of family activities, and has moved the celebration to the PV Civic Center, 7501 E. Civic Circle. The fun starts at 4 p.m. Hero Party Rentals will roll out a host of bounce houses and inflatables. This is Prescott Valley's biggest lineup of 4th of July attractions including: 5 Lanes of water slides, 6 Lanes of dry slides, Vertical Reality Bungee Trampolines, 24' Rock Wall, and Human Gyroscope.

While the live entertainment is free, the Hero Party Rental attractions require a wristband available at the Civic Center on July 4. The price for this wristband has been lowered to $15.

Get mementos of the fun at the deluxe photo booth, and enjoy glow products and Dippin’ Dots concession sales.

A beer and food garden will open at 3 p.m., featuring Montana BBQ, Penny's Place and White Eyes Fry Bread. The free entertainment by Five in the Wheel will begin at 6 p.m. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

Bring blankets, lawn chairs and coolers if you like, (no EZ Ups or tents) but please leave the alcoholic beverages, grills, pets* and glass containers at home. For more information call Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation at 928-759-3090.
