A new library in Yavapai County!

On Wednesday February 28th, the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, the Yavapai County Free Library District (YCFLD) Director Corey Christians along with Mayer Unified School District Superintendent Dean Slaga, and members of the community were on hand to celebrate the opening of the new Spring Valley Library.  The library is a partnership between the Yavapai County Free Library District, Yavapai College and the Mayer Unified School District.

Corey Christians said, “With the help of Supervisor Thurman, we went to the people of Spring Valley and asked if they were interested in having their own library.  The response we got back was very positive.”

The YCFLD received a $15,000 Library Services & Technology Act grant to get the library going. New books were purchased with the majority of the money.

Supervisor Thurman said, “The library is for everyone in this room and everyone in this community.  You should use this library and allow it to open your mind to new possibilities.”

The library is located at 17320 E Mule Deer Drive in Mayer and will be open Mon-Thurs 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM and Friday 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. They can be reached at 928-717-8118.
