Easter Eggs for All

17 April 2017

Happy children walked away with lots of plastic eggs and prizes on Saturday afternoon.

Ten thousand eggs were strewn about the Prescott Mile High Middle School (PMHMS) field. Thousands of children, (some even came from as far away as Phoenix) lined the edges, ready to rush out and put as many oval-shaped objects as possible in their Easter baskets. It was officially called The Great Prescott Easter Egg Hunt, but if the truth were told, it was more like an Easter Egg Snatch & Grab.

That didn't matter to these kids. They could see eggs out there and they were ready to do whatever it took to make sure that as many as possible ended up in the baskets hanging off their arms.

In years past, the Prescott Easter Egg Hunt took place at the downtown Courthouse, but this year it was moved to the PMHMS football field. (Kudos to the Eagle Management and Events for bringing this to the community, by the way.)

One section was cordoned off for smaller children. But the rest? The rest of the eggs were gloriously available to any child on the field. At least for about 2 minutes. Maybe less. Yep. That’s about how long it took for all 10,000 of the eggs to be snatched up and placed into colorful baskets.

When all the eggs were claimed, children sat on the grass with happy smiles, checking out their loot. One father was even heard to say with a chuckle, “Well, we got more eggs than last year! I call that a win."
