County Assessor Pam Pearsall Attends Riley vs. City of Prescott Trial

16 December 2016

Assessor Pearsall has attended the trial every day since it began on December 5.

Since losing the primary election on August 30, 2016 by a little more than 1400 votes to challenger Judd Simmons, Pearsall has been busy.  During the last few weeks remaining in her tenure, Yavapai County Assessor Pam Pearsall is in Phoenix covering the trial involving KayAnne Riley vs. City of Prescott and Marlin Kuykendall.

Within a couple of weeks after the election, Pearsall started writing and promoting her new book, called, “Whispers of Truth,” described as, “A story of abuse and politics in Arizona.” During the middle of October and beginning of November, Assessor Pearsall released an historical study of Yavapai County Single Family Home Median Sale Prices

This month, she’s taking a couple of weeks to cover the KayAnne Riley vs. City of Prescott and Marlin Kuykendall trial. According to Pearsall, she has been there every day since it started, although she won’t be able to attend on the final day, Friday, December 16, due to family reasons.

Pearsall said she has been asked to start a podcast. She expects to use some of the information from the trial in at least one of the episodes. At this time, however, she does not know what her podcast will be titled. When asked who her sponsors are, Pearsall smiled and replied, “I can’t tell you. That’s top secret!"

Supervisor Jack Smith affirmed that Pearsall is not covering the trial for any reason on behalf of the County.

Pearsall said she does plan to be at the next Supervisor’s meeting on the 21st to finish up some of her Assessor responsibilities.

Pearsall is exploring several opportunities for the future, but plans to take off the month of January.

Pearsall remains on the County payroll as Assessor until December 31. Elected officials have no legal requirements to work a specific number of hours.

Assessor-elect Judd Simmons will take office as of January 3, 2017.
