21 August 2016

The Prescott City Council has scheduled a Special Voting Meeting for Monday morning at 9 AM. They plan to vote on selecting Michael Lamar as the new City Manager.

Michael Lamar is currently the County Manager of Morgan County, Georgia. He has held that position since July, 2005. Before that, he was the City Manager at the City of Trenton in Florida.

Lamar has a Master’s degree in Public Administration at the University of Georgia, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Government  from the University of Florida according to his LinkedIn page.

Morgan County has a population of 17,868 according to the 2010 census. The City of Prescott is more than twice as large in population as Morgan County.

According to the Morgan County 'Meet the County Manager' page, "Mr. Lamar is committed to providing efficient and effective local government services, and is very dedicated to total openness and transparency in local government.”

That is evident in little things such as a question posted on the ICMA websitewhere he mentioned, "FYI, I’m trying to decide if I need to make some changes in IT and I like to take the pulse of my folks first.

Lamar is one of 3 county ICMA Credentialed Managers in Georgia
