Update 6:25 PM: 150 homes were in the evacuation containment. Not everyone evacuated. The shelter has only seen about 10 persons but quite a few animals. No structures have been damaged. Fire appears to be burning South away from town but still affecting the I 17
Update 6:15 PM: The Bug Creek Fire is now up to 1000 acres.
Update: Just spoke with Dolores Garcia, the PIO for BLM, which is managing the fire.
The fire is over 100 acres in size. I17 northbound is expected to be closed for much of today, or as long as needed. Find an alternate route for travel.
The fire was originally reported at 10:45 AM, according to InciWeb: "Resources on the fire include multiple engines, helicopters and multiple air tankers from the Bureau of Land Management, Arizona State Forestry, and multiple community fire departments."
Update: As Of 1:30 Pm Southbound I17 Has Been Re-Opened
Update, 1 PM: 1PM - mandatory evacuation area has been increased to cover neighborhoods south of Stagecoach Trail, west of Cordes Lakes Drive and north of Antelope Road.
Update, Marcie Slay from Yavapai County Emergency Management reports: Evacuations have been ordered for the neighborhood west of Val Vista Road north of Sage Brush Drive.
I-17 is closed from mm 258 to 263.

UPDATE: According to D'Evelyn, homes near Val Vista Road and Sage Brush Drive have been placed under mandatory evacuation notices. All other areas nearby are under pre-evacuation notice.
Here’s what we’ve found right now:
I-17 is blocked in both directions at Cordes Lakes, according to Dwight D’Evelyn, Yavapai County Sheriff’s spokesperson. D’Evelyn also confirmed that SR 69 is closed southbound at this time.
Southwest Coordination Center (SWCC) says that the following resources have been ordered:
1 VLAT, 2 Airtankers, 1SEAT.
Note: BLM referred to it as the “Big Creek Fire” but it is actually being called the “Bug Creek Fire.”
