Mingus Mountain Fire

06 June 2016

A Fire on Mingus Mountain was Quickly Extinguished by Forest Service Personnel

A fire was spotted early Monday on Mingus Mountain. According to Public Spokesperson Adriane Ragan, the fire was slightly north of Potato Patch Campground. Forest Service personnel were able to quickly contain it within 1/10th of an acre.

No structures were in danger.

The cause of the fire is still being determined.

Ragan offered a reminder, “Be sure to put out your campfires completely.” She said that over the weekend, 7 abandoned campfires were found.

Currently there are no fire restrictions in the forests, Ragan said, although with the heat and dryness, it could happen soon.
