Man Arrested after Running Over Man and Dog in a Stolen Car

On May 11, 2016 at approximately 6:30 P.M., Prescott Police Officers responded to the 3400 block of Clearwater Drive after receiving a report of a hit and run. Investigating Officers spoke to the male victim, a 48 year old Prescott resident, who told them that he had been walking his dog in the area, when he and the dog were struck by a blue Ford Fusion as it passed them on the street.  The victim told Officers he jumped into his own vehicle and attempted to follow the suspect. The victim caught up to the suspect vehicle and at one point, the victim attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle, however the suspect sped away from the scene. Due to the high rate of speed at which the suspect was driving, the victim decided not to continue following the vehicle.

The male victim did receive minor injuries and was treated and released by emergency medical personnel who were called to the scene. The dog also sustained injury and was taken to a local veterinarian where it was treated and released.

A short time later, Officers located the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Sandretto Drive. The vehicle was determined to be stolen out of Las Vegas, Nevada. By speaking to people in the area, Officers determined that the vehicle had been driven by 20 year old Tyler Becker of Las Vegas. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle. Becker was found hiding nearby and was taken into custody.

Becker was booked into the Yavapai County Jail for charges of endangerment, possession of stolen property, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
