Gov Doug Ducey To Deliver Prescott High School's Commencement Address

31 March 2016   Dawn Wallace

Governor Doug Ducey will deliver keynote remarks at two Arizona high school commencement ceremonies this spring.

ASU Preparatory High School

On May 26, Governor Ducey will address the graduating class of 2016 at ASU Preparatory High School. Affiliated with Arizona State University (ASU), ASU Prep is designed to integrate a student’s educational experience from Pre-K through college completion, and is a direct example of ASU’s commitment to access and excellence. ASU Preparatory High School offers internationally acclaimed Cambridge Curriculum, which prepares students to enroll in university classes by their junior year in high school.

“I’m excited to join this excellent group of graduating Sun Devils as they celebrate their hard work and accomplishments over the past several years, and I look forward to being able to do so from the same campus where I spent my college years,” said Governor Ducey. “It is especially meaningful that I will be congratulating a class of high school students whose education has empowered them to complete college, excel in a global society and contribute to their communities – all with the same ideals, high expectations and rigor needed to be successful at ASU.”

“We are honored to have Governor Ducey deliver our Commencement Address and validate the belief that every student in Arizona is capable of achievement at the highest levels,” said Art Lebowitz, Secondary School Director, ASU Prep Phoenix. “Thank you, Governor, for honoring the work of our students and staff and the dedication of our families.”

Prescott High School

On May 27, Governor Ducey will travel to one of the state’s oldest schools, Prescott High School (PHS), home of the Badgers, to deliver the 2016 keynote address.  Located in Prescott, Arizona, PHS offers a full spectrum of academics, including Advanced Placement courses and dual credit courses in conjunction with Yavapai College. A comprehensive high school, PHS complements academics with athletics, theater, fine arts choir, band, and career and technical education programs. At PHS, every student is taught the role of a strong citizen, valued employee, entrepreneur and leader of tomorrow.

“For the PHS Class of 2016, and their families and friends, graduation is an important milestone – one of the proudest and most memorable days of their lives,” said Governor Ducey. “I look forward to heading to Prescott to participate in this exciting occasion at one of Arizona’s oldest schools, and to recognize the great work these students and teachers have done to get to this moment.”

“Prescott Unified School District is honored to have Governor Ducey as part of our 2016 commencement ceremony,” said Joe Howard, Superintendent of Prescott Unified School District. “We are thrilled to share this tradition at a state level and we believe this will be a wonderful chapter in the history of ‘Everybody’s Hometown.’”
