50% Containment on the Lane 2 Crown King Fire

04 July 2008
Friday, 7:30 pm: Excellent news on the Lane 2 Crown King Fire situation - 50% containment and falling rain.

Tony Scaccia, speaking at the first community meeting for Crown King evacuees.
When Tony Scaccia, Incident Commander for the Lane 2 Crown King fire, spoke at the first community meeting for Crown King residents, the one thing he wished for was the monsoonal rain. Well, today Scaccia got his wish, because by 6 pm today, rain had poured over about half of the fire. This was terrific news for the weary firefighters. It doesn't entirely extinguish the fire, but it sure helps! The hope is that as the evening wears on, more rain will fall, covering the rest of the fire.

Current Update:

Acres: 10,100

Containment: 50%
