1000 Customers Flock to Sprouts' Pre-Opening Event

04 June 2014

Sprouts will celebrate the grand opening of it's Prescott Valley store Wednesday morning (yes, that's tomorrow!)

But today, they held a limited opening to introduce the newest grocery store to the community.

With a company philosophy that embraces, "Healthy living for less!" Sprouts brings fresh, natural food, much of which is organic, at a reasonable price to the consumer.

Touring the store with Donna Egan, Director of Corporate Communications at Sprouts Farmers Market, it was obvious that the company is committed to offering more than simply great food. They contribute to the local and regional economy by purchasing natural products from nearby vendors - you can even find Prescott Brewing Company beer in their beer cooler - they are on hand to answer questions and educate customers about their products, and they don't think that the tags "natural" or "organic" require price gouging.

Sprouts will open to the public Wednesday, June 4. Their store hours are 7-10 every day.

Each week they will send out a flyer for sales and products, and there is also a monthly flyer with coupons.

Egan explained that there are over 9,000 health and beauty products offered at Sprouts, and they are all natural. In order to ensure that customers get the best information, Sprouts is committed to educating each person in their specific departments. Here, Sheila, who works in the Health and Beauty department, demonstrates the computer program that can help provide information to customers about health issues and products. They can print out information sheets and much more. Additionally, they have a Naturopath Doctor on staff, as well as other health professionals.

Vendors were on hand to offer samples and explain about their food products. Nonnas offered pasta sauces, Madison's offered sauce that can be used in a variety of ways. Owner Brad Child was there in person to share the flavor of Madison's. (I bought some of the Madison's sauce and we had it on pork ribs tonight. It was quite delicious!) Nonna's gluten free pasta sauce (more on gluten-free later) was also quite good, and there were many varieties. The Grassfed Beef Crisps were quite unusual, but also surely addictive - think paper-thin slices of   jerky with lots of flavor, but none of the toughness of jerky. Sting'N'Linger shared salsa flavors almost as soon as you got through the door.

Of course, Sprouts is all about fresh, local product. Egan says that suppliers are all chosen regionally. That helps to increase quality and reduce prices.

Finding gluten-free products is an important trend these days, and Sprouts makes sure that the products are clearly labeled with yellow tags.

Do you love bulk spices? Prices are reasonable, and there's a great selection. As for other bulk foods, there are lots of choices, some expected (flour, oatmeal) and some that is a little exotic, such as roasted, salted ocra chips.

Sprouts loves buying local whenever possible.

Sprouts has real butchers! If you need a special cut of meat, they can do it. Their hamburger is ground daily. Their chicken is cut and packaged daily. Whatever is left is turned into fresh, store-made-from-scratch sausage. (I tried the chicken parmesan - it was fabulous.) Flavors such as Apple Sausage, Linguisa, Southwest style, Basil Sausage and much, much more. The meat you find here isn't just your regular fare at a grocery store.

Well, as you can imagine, there's so much more to find in Sprouts. There are Sprouts-branded products, but unlike many chains with generic products, Sprouts takes great pride in their company named items. Egan explained that any Sprouts branded products are all natural, and of an excellent quality.

Remember, Grand Opening tomorrow, doors are unlocked at 7 AM.
