The Roughrider baseball team swept a conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in Prescott over the visiting Bears from Phoenix College, 6-2 and 5-3. YC improves to 16-13 overall and 7-5 in Conference play. Phoenix College falls to 18-15 on the year and 8-12 ACCAC action.
Jonathan Stroman got the victory from the mound throwing the complete game. Stroman scattered 7 hits while allowing 2 runs, 1 earned and striking out 4.
Offensively, the Riders were led by Carlos Viera going 2 for 3 with 3 runs batted in. Viera had a double and a home run.
Dominic Hamel was dominate on the mound for the Riders. He threw 6 innings striking out 6 for the victory.
Over Torres, Gianni Tomasi and Logan Williams each had 2 hits. Tomasi had 2 runs batted in.
The Riders take a break from conference play as they host Langley Blaze on Wednesday, March 21st. The Langley Blaze are a youth baseball team located in the city of Langley, British Columbia. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
The Roughrider softball team dropped a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix to Phoenix College, 10-0 and 6-2. Yavapai is now 28-9 overall and 20-6 in ACCAC action.
YC could only manage 1 hit in the opening game while giving up 14 hits.
Not much changed in the second game as the Riders got three hits led by a home run by Brianna Griffiths.
Yavapai continues conference play on Saturday, March 24h entertaining Paradise Valley Community College. YC swept a twinbill from the Pumas in February, 13-0 and 8-0. Saturday’s games will begin at 12:00 PM at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott.
