Opinion: Boy Scouts Earn Badges After Researching PSPRS

12 May 2017

Boy Scouts examine the facts of PSPRS.

When a local boy scout troop decided to work on their Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge they chose to tackle the issue of Prescott’s Public Safety Personnel Retirement System.

Go big or go home, right?

According to their Scoutmaster, Adam Parker, the scouts read articles, watched a city council meeting and visited with City Manager Michael Lamar and Councilman Steve Sischka.

Afterwards, the boys, “…prepared their assessments of the situation with their recommendations…” Parker explained.

Kudos to these young men for doing their research and learning about the issue. It is to be hoped that Prescott voters will do the same.

Here are the boys’ recommendations. As an editorial decision, we have removed their last names and phone numbers.
