Watters Garden Center: Plant of the Week

29 June 2014

It's the Plant of the Week!

Hi, Lisa here with the plants of the week and our Tulip Shade Tree.

An elegant, eye-catching shade tree that holds its own in the largest yards. The only tree that shows off large tulip flowers amoungst all that foliage. In Autumn the foliage turns an equally beautiful gold color. We have lots of sizes to choose from, but the $121 specimens are magnificent.

Double Delight Cone Flower.

A profusion of bright bubblegum pink, double flowers are produced on strong, well-branched stems that blooms now through fall!  Butterflies adore the large 3 inch flowers that come back every year. Part of Watters low water use perennial collection all for just $14.  Watters Garden Center, 1815 Iron Springs Road in Prescott,  Where people who love tough yet pretty summer flowers,  they loves to shop.

Little Spires Russian Sage,  Perovskia atriplicifolia

This new Sage is a super shrubby summer perennial that screams Southwest style.  Features spikes of lavender blue flowers and adds a sense of lightness to the garden or containers.  Shorter, standing upright so it doesn't flop over in the landscape.  The casual charater says, “I'm from Arizona and ready to shine in the mountain sun.”  Summer planting is best for this little one.

Gilted Edge Silver Berry, Elaeagnus

Superb head high hedge, loves wind heat and requires little to no maintenance. Splendid golden edged foliage all year-round. Silvery flowers are tiny but very fragrant that turn to red fall fruit. With its brilliant color, this plant is a welcome bright spot in gardens needing excitement. Part of Watters Western Native colletion for low-to-no water needs once established.  This evergreen loves being on a drip system.
