Local Bands Participate in State Marching Band Competition

Signs of Success!

Bradshaw Mountain High School and Prescott High School marching bands traveled to Hamilton High School in Gilbert, Arizona to participate in the annual ABODA (Arizona Band and Orchestra Association), Division II state competition. 

Bradshaw Mountain, directed by Chris Tenney, was awarded an "Excellent" rating for the performance of their show titled "Almost Gone". The musical selections included music by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were "Fortune Faded", "Brendan's Death Song", and "Monarchy of Maggie".

The Pride of Prescott marching band, led by director Dan Bradstreet, followed 45 minutes later.  Their performance of "Maya" was awarded a rating of "Superior with Distinction" along with caption awards included "Outstanding Visual Performance", Outstanding General Effect", "Outstanding Musical Performance", and "Outstanding Auxiliary".  The musical selections included "The Hunt", "Temples III", "At War IV", and "Fall of a Civilization".

Prescott finished fourth overall in Division II and will now perform at the "Super State" competition on November 16.   Bands from division I, II, and III will all compete at Glendale Community College.

The bands and crowd were treated, at the end of the day, by a performance from the Arizona State Sun Devils marching band.

Ron Williams

Ron Williams is the advisor, broadcaster, and sportswriter for the BBN, Badger Broadcasting Network. The BBN is a community club for high school students enrolled in the Prescott Unified School District.
