Down Two Men, The Eagles Still Find Way To Get Result

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A nearly disastrous start turns into a miraculous result for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) men's soccer who gave up two early goals and lost two men to cards before tying the game and forcing a 2-2 2OT draw against The Master's University (Calif.).

The first minute of the game is where TMU (0-0-1) drew first blood as the Mustangs came out hot to get the first goal only 41 seconds. ERAU  (0-0-1) struggled to get a lot going and before they could get up two shots on frame the Mustangs rallied to score another.

It was the second half where things would get very interesting. Only three minutes into the half the Eagles received a red card which added to the drama. With only ten men, the Eagles rallied to get a goal in the 61st minute thanks to Ethan Carlson (SO/Edgewood, Wash.). Stefano Recinos (JR/Los Angeles, Calif.) played a ball to the big man who took one dribble and slotted it into the lower right corner.

Later the Eagles would see Recinos deliver again. The junior would head in the equalizer while the defense stood still and the Eagles were back in business. Despite the momentum switch, the Eagles would lose another player on a second yellow card and they would need to hold on for dear life to get a result.

ERAU held on for nearly thirty minutes to get their much deserved result against a tough Mustangs club. Recinos was the star of the night, coming off the bench and providing three points (1 goal, 1 assist).

The Eagles will line it up again tomorrow afternoon against the hosts of the Heritage Club Classic, Westmont College at 2:30 pm MST.
