Showers Today, Sunny This Week
Featured

29 April 2019   Dr. Mark Sinclair

Mostly dry after Monday.

Weather Discussion:

Today should be the only precipitation for the coming week. Today’s low pressure system should bring showers and the possibility of thunderstorms to most of northern Arizona today. Some of these storms may produce hail at higher elevations and gusty winds later this afternoon and early evening. The attached graphic shows the distribution and amounts of precipitation forecast by the HRRR model for today. HRRR stands for NOAA’s High Resolution Rapid Refresh model. This is a cloud resolving model on a 3 km grid that can assimilate radar data. It is updated hourly. It is probably the best model for looking at local detail in our area.

The remainder of the work week should be dry with a steady warming trend through to Saturday.
