Prescott Regional SciTechFest To Offer Day Of Learning, Fun, and Prizes

Free Event Will Promote STEM+A Education In Prescott And Surrounding Communities

WHAT:  Part of a statewide celebration of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and the arts (STEM+A), the second annual Prescott Regional SciTechFest will feature more than two dozen local schools and businesses offering interactive workshops, exhibits, and presentations/demonstrations.   Robotics and unmanned aircraft, student displays and research, and even a full-size helicopter are just a few of the features at this years’ regional SciTechFest.

“Our goal as a school is to prepare our students to be productive citizens in this community and it is critical that they know how much the Prescott Region has to offer them if they choose to pursue a career in a STEM field,” said Dr. Theresa Matteson, SciTechFest Board Member and Principal of Glassford Hill Middle School.

WHO:  Participants include:  Arizona SciTech, Casa de Aero Club, Children’s Museum Alliance, Inc., City of Prescott, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Freeport-McMoRan Mine, Heritage Park Zoo, Highlands Center for Natural History, Local Elementary/Middle/High Schools, Northern Arizona University-Yavapai Campus, Prescott Astronomy Club, Unisource Energy Services, Universal Helicopters, Inc., University of Arizona Yavapai County Cooperative Extension, Yavapai College, Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

“It is our hope to inspire members of our community, especially young people, to champion academic excellence and creativity, and pursue careers in science and technology,” said Dr. Curtis James, Prescott SciTechFest Chair and Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
