History books are filled with the wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. However, today, the one day where we celebrate his life, work, and message, most of those books are shut, tucked silently on a shelf, inside of empty classrooms.
While most schools are closed, students at La Tierra Community School are celebrating “A Day On, Not a Day Off !”, bringing Dr. King’s message into the world through love and action. They are joining the footfalls and voices of the community by gathering together to march and celebrate equality, peace, and a brighter future. As well as adding energy and spirit to community-wide events, students, parents, and staff are giving back by performing beautification projects around town.
As Dr. King said, “An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.” LTCS students are activating this message today, ensuring that his words do not slip into the long echo of history, but are alive & present for the betterment of our community.
