Easter and Resurrections – Buz Blog

Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.” – Martin Luther

Easter is the Christian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter recognizes Christ’s victory over death, of love over hate, and good over evil. It also signifies a resurrection, of sorts, for the earth coming out of the dormancy of winter. This year, we who believe in freedom, need to do everything in our power to “resurrect” the Judaeo-Christian values that made our country the freest, most prosperous nation in world history. It is an uphill battle, but it can be won, even though the odds are stacked against us.

A recent Wall Street Journal poll is illustrative of what we are up against. The poll reveals a dramatic decline in values that are indicative of a vibrant country. In 1998, 70% of Americans rated “patriotism” as important. By 2019, that number had dropped to 61%. This year, the number of Americans who rated patriotism as important had plummeted to 38%.

In another category, the “importance of having children” dropped from a high of 59% in 1998, to 43% in 2019 and then dropped to 30% in 2023. This is a trend that would indicate that there will be a decrease in the future of the nuclear family, a bad omen for any country.

Most distressing, this poll shows the continuing downward tendency of our fellow Americans to see the importance of religion in our lives. In 1998, 62% of those polled thought that religion was important. That declined to 48% in 2019 and this year that figure went down to 39%.

The importance of the results of this opinion canvass is that it shows the success of the progressive, left, woke, globalists in indoctrinating our countrymen. They have stolen pride in our country from a majority of our citizens. Not surprisingly, a lack of satisfaction with one’s country, would diminish a desire to create a family and bring children into this world. American’s feeling a decline in the importance of religion, demonstrates the left’s success in secularizing our country.

A reason for optimism is that some of our elected officials are aware of the problems we face, and are dedicated to reversing these negative trends. Last week I had the distinct pleasure to hear Congressman Eli Crane, from Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, speak at the Republican Women of Prescott luncheon. He impressed us with his honesty, which speaks to the man’s integrity. He told those assembled that when he ran for Congress, he purposely made no promises. Congressman Crane stated that he knew that since our form of government is geared toward gridlock, it is not likely that any promises made, would reach fruition. With two houses of Congress, filled with members of two different parties and a president with veto power, legislation is very difficult to pass.

How often does one hear an elected official say that? Crane explained his unconventional action in opposing Congressman Kevin McCarthy as speaker, were the result of one of his basic tenets. Congressman Crane stated that he does not work for and does not answer to any political party; he works for and answers to the people who elected him. His actions since his election prove that he acts on his beliefs. Our Congressman’s foundational tenets, are based on biblical Judaeo-Christian teachings. Toward the end of his speech, Congressman Crane pointed out that nations that turn away from God, invariably fail because God turns away from them.

The Wall Street Journal poll indicates that a majority of our people are turning away from God and religion. While celebrating Easter this year, we need to dedicate ourselves to resurrecting pride in our country, encouraging and supporting our families, and promoting our God and our religions.

  1. Thanks Buz. Yes, it wasn’t colored eggs and chocolate bunny’s that motivated the colonists to take on the British for American freedom. But it was a small 3-15 percent of the population were motivated to fight and fight they did.
Much of the colonies remained loyal to the British and supplies for the army were often hard to come by as the British could pay more than the rag-tag militias and Washington’s army.
Are we at the point of only 3-15 percent of Americans willing to revisit the Declaration of Independence? Remember the long third paragraph?
In the third paragraph it begins; “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive to those ends……”
Find a copy of our Declaration of Independence and read it slowly knowing what is taking place in Washington, D.C. and across America. Then Pray.
