Sharlot Hall Museum Prepares to Ring In The Season With Holiday Events

Christmastime brought abundant celebration to the young town of Prescott during Victorian times, along with classic holiday traditions that live on today in Sharlot Hall Museum’s family Christmas events.

Frontier Christmas will take place Saturday, December 3, immediately after the Courthouse Lighting Ceremony, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. The event welcomes the “Spirit of Christmas Past” across the Museum campus with cookies and cider, Victorian-inspired Christmas crafts, luminaria-lit walkways, Living History interpreters, and live music performances.

Guests are invited to hear stories of Prescott’s “olden days,” make an ornament to hang on their own Christmas tree, and complete their gift list in the warm Museum Store. Admission is purchased at the door and is $5 for adults and free for Museum members and youth 17-under.

Last year’s popular holiday show “A Frontier Christmas Carol” returns this year with two performances on Thursday, December 8, at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Audiences will enjoy a hilarious reader’s theater night featuring a familiar Christmas classic with a Prescott twist. Performed like an old-time radio show with an unlikely cast of local characters, the show also includes audience participation. Tickets are on sale by phone and online and are $25/regular admission and $20/Museum members.

Museum staff is excited to welcome guests to Frontier Christmas on Saturday, December 3, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. and to “A Frontier Christmas Carol” on Thursday, December 8, at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (tickets required; on sale now).
