Watson Lake and Goldwater Lake Recreation Areas Closed due to Crooks Fire Operations

The City of Prescott has closed two recreation areas due to ongoing operations related to the Crooks Fire.  Watson Lake and Goldwater Lake recreation areas have been closed until further notice.  This includes the trails that are inside the park boundaries.  Willow Lake, Pioneer Park and other City of Prescott recreation areas remain open at this time.  City trails outside of the park boundaries, such as the Peavine Trail, remain open.

  1. Why? What are the “ongoing operations” that cause two great locations for visitors and outdoorsmen. This was sadly missing from the publication.

    1. Aircraft are filling fire fighting buckets up at watson lack. those using the lake would be in the way, and potentially injured.

      1. In addition, If you drive past Watson Lake on Hwy 89, you can see that that is where they are staging the equipment, fire trucks and firefighters.
