GMIHC Learning and Tribute Center Welcomes Nearly 15,000 visitors in first Six Months

Prescott, Arizona January 25, 2019-- Since its grand opening on June 29, 2018, the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew (GMIHC) Learning and Tribute Center welcomed 14,919 visitors during the 84 days it was opened in 2018.   Visitors came from 46 different states, and nine foreign countries.

“It appears this has become an important local attraction,” said Prescott Fire Chief Dennis Light. “This was a grass-roots effort to bring the GMIHC Learning and Tribute Center to fruition.   I’d like to offer my personal heartfelt thanks to the volunteers, staff and the community their support.”

Many of those visiting said they found out about the center through the website, Facebook page, or other social media platforms.

John Marsh, Chair of the GMIHC Board, said, “This phenomenal success has been made possible by an all-volunteer board and the dedication of more than 40 trained volunteer docents who staff the center. Likewise the community continues to remain very supportive with donations of material and labor.”

The GMIHC Learning and Tribute Center is located inside the Prescott Gateway Mall, near Dillard’s, and is open Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday 11a.m. - 4 p.m.  For more information, go to www.gmihc19.org/
