PRESCOTT, AZ (November 29, 2018) -- The National Weather Service is predicting a series of storms to pass through Arizona for the next week. Rain and snow amounts from the storms are still uncertain, with predicted totals of 3 to 6 inches of snow predicted above 6,000 feet and lighter amounts down to around 4,000 feet.
Residents are reminded to avoid driving during winter weather conditions if possible. Remember to stock up on necessities and fill prescriptions prior to the arrival of storms.
For those planning travel between Thursday, November 29 and Friday, November 30, be prepared for winter driving conditions over higher terrain areas. The Street Maintenance Division will have trucks prepared and drivers on stand-by throughout the event to ensure appropriate response to the storms as they happen.
Residents are reminded that streets are plowed in order of priority, with major roads first, and these priority streets are plowed continuously until they remain passable for public safety vehicles and other traffic. This means that depending on the storm’s duration and intensity, residential (local) streets may not be plowed for a day or two after the storm has ended. Snow plow operators work continuously on 12 hours shifts once a storm hits until the snow is removed.
