Road Construction project updates in the City of Prescott.

There are four major road projects underway at this time.

  • Bashford Courts Alley & Willis Street and Cortez Street Reconstruction Project - scheduled to be complete in late spring, 2018.
  • Rosser Street Reconstruction - scheduled to be complete in summer, 2018
  • Dexter Neighborhood Road and Utility Upgrade Project - scheduled to be complete in spring, 2018
  • Road and utility upgrade project along State Route 89, including new roundabout - scheduled for completion in spring, 2018

Basford Courts Alley & Willis Street and Cortez Street Reconstruction Project

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Earth Resources Corporation, are currently working on an infrastructure improvement project in Downtown Prescott on Monday, March 12, 2018. The project consists of complete reconstruction and improvements of the alleys and parking lot behind the Bashford Courts Atrium Mall, and the intersection of Willis Street and Cortez Street to Montezuma Street. Improvements at Bashford Courts includes installation of new storm drain, sewer main, parking lot lighting, and landscape elements. Improvements at the Willis Street and North Cortez Street intersection includes a new water main extending to North Montezuma Street, as well as landscape enhancements and crosswalk reconstruction. Additionally, new asphalt pavement will be installed throughout the project area. To minimize impacts to the traveling public, the majority of the work on Willis and Cortez Street will be performed at night.

Once finished, the project will significantly improve stormwater drainage, provide upgraded water and sewer utilities, and increase overall safety and accessibility for the Bashford Courts parking lot. The project is scheduled to be complete in late spring 2018.

WATER MAIN INSTALLATION TO CONTINUE

Crews will continue installing new water main at the intersection of Willis Street and Cortez Street. To minimize the impact to the traveling public, this portion of the work will be performed at night.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Sunday, March 25 through Thursday, March 29, 6 p.m. - 5 a.m.

The intersection of Willis Street and Cortez Street will be closed while work is underway. Downtown road users are asked to follow marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when near construction personnel and equipment.

WILLIS ALLEY RECONSTRUCTION PROGRESSES

Crews will continue working on new sewer main in the Willis Alley between Willis Street and the Bashford Courts parking lot next week.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Monday, March 26 through Friday, March 30, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

The Willis Alley will be closed while work is underway. Downtown road users are asked to follow marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when near construction personnel and equipment.


Dexter Neighborhood Road and Utility Upgrade Project

Welcome to the City of Prescott Dexter Neighborhood Road and Utility Upgrade Project eNews. Please note that in the event of inclement weather the work schedule may be altered or suspended without notice.

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Capital Improvements, LLC, are currently working on a road and utility upgrade project along select streets in the Dexter Neighborhood. The project consists of replacing undersized water and sewer main lines, road improvements, and installing new water service connections for residents. In addition to this work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway replacements will be performed as needed.

This project is part of an ongoing program to replace deteriorated and undersized main lines within the City utility system. Once complete, these upgrades will increase service reliability and main line capacity for the Dexter Neighborhood and surrounding areas. Project completion is scheduled for spring 2018.

UTILITY INSTALLATION TO BEGIN ON BIRD STREET

Starting Tuesday, crews will begin the process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Bird Street from Hillside Avenue to just north of West Merritt Avenue. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor prior to any construction activities on the property.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Tuesday, March 27 through Friday, March 30, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Bird Street will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

CONCRETE WORK TO CONTINUE ON CAMPBELL STREET

Crews will continue installing concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, and curb and gutter along Campbell Street, from West Merritt Avenue to West Hillside Avenue, throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Monday, March 26 through Friday, March 30, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Campbell Street will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents. Please remain alert for reduced speeds, rough roads, and flaggers in the work zone.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES TO CONTINUE ON RUTH STREET AND LINCOLN AVENUE

Crews have finished asphalt pavement operations on Ruth Street and valley gutter installation on Lincoln Avenue.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Monday, March 26 through Friday, March 30, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Ruth Street and Lincoln Avenue are temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES ON DAMERON DRIVE TO CONTINUE

In preparation for asphalt paving operations, crews will continue removing the existing asphalt and preparing the subgrade along Dameron Drive, from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street, next week. In addition to this work, crews will continue installing lateral service lines along Dameron Drive, from the Brannen Avenue intersection to Comfort Avenue, throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Dameron Drive will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents. Please remain alert for reduced speeds, rough roads, and flaggers in the work zone.

UTILITY SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS

The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections has begun. Please be aware that temporary water shut offs will be required to perform this work. Affected businesses and residents will be notified at least 48-hours in advance of any temporary utility interruptions.


State Route 89

Welcome to the City of Prescott SR 89 Widening and Roundabout Project eNews. Businesses and residents are reminded to call the Project Hotline at (928) 237-3114 to speak to a project team member with any questions or concerns. Please note that in the event of inclement weather the work schedule may be altered or suspended without notice.

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are currently working on a road and utility upgrade project along State Route 89. The project limits include State Route 89 between the State Route 89A/Pioneer Parkway interchange and Granite Dells. Improvements include the widening of State Route 89, water and sewer utility upgrades, removing and replacing the existing asphaltic concrete, and construction of a new roundabout near the Phippen Museum. The project also includes a new parking area for access to the City's Constellation Trail System.

Once complete, this project will increase traffic flow by widening the existing two-lane roadway to four lanes, enhance road user safety, and upgrade utilities that serve the Prescott community. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2018.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES TO CONTINUE ON WESTSIDE OF STATE ROUTE 89 NEXT WEEK

Crews will be performing grading operations, installing signage, and performing miscellaneous construction activities along the westside of State Route 89 throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Monday, March 26 through Saturday, March 31, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

One lane of traffic will remain open in both directions at all times, however, motorists are asked to please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, flaggers, and heavy equipment accessing the work zone.

CONSTELLATION TRAILHEAD PARKING LOT ACCESS

The Constellation Trailhead parking lot is now fully accessible. Trail users are asked to follow marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when hiking near construction personnel and equipment.


Rosser Street Reconstruction

Welcome to the City of Prescott Rosser Street Reconstruction Project eNews. Please note that in the event of inclement weather the work schedule may be altered or suspended without notice.

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are currently working on a road and infrastructure reconstruction project along Rosser Street. The project consists of removing and replacing the existing paved surface with new asphalt pavement and reconstruction of a detention basin at the corner of West Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. Additionally, new sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway entrances will be replaced as needed. The project extents include Rosser Street from Campbell Avenue to just east of Eagle View Drive.

Once complete, this project will relieve stormwater runoff in areas surrounding the detention basin and provide a smoother, quieter ride for road users. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

ROADWAY RECONSTRUCTION PROGRESSES ON ROSSER STREET

Crews will continue working on the subgrade and base course along Rosser Street, from Piping Rock Road to just east of Eagle View Drive, throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Monday, March 26 through Friday, March 30, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone. Motorists should allow for extra time to get through the area and use an alternate route if possible.

CONCRETE WORK TO CONTINUE

Crews will continue replacing concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, handicap ramps, and curb and gutter along Rosser Street from Piping Rock Road to just east of Eagle View Drive. This work will occur on an as-needed basis.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

VALLEY GUTTER INSTALLATION MOVES FORWARD

Valley gutter removal and installation along Rosser Street, including the intersection of Eagle Mountain Drive, will continue throughout the week.

To access Eagle Mountain Drive from Rosser Street, road users are asked to follow the marked detour signs along Eagle View Drive, Soaring Avenue, and Eagle Point Drive.
