Quality of Life in Prescott Valley Rates Very High

Mayor Kell Palguta Earns High Ratings As Well

Polling of Prescott Valley residents, done just last week, shows a very high level of satisfaction with life in Prescott Valley.

The poll of 521 registered voters asked voters what their overall impression of life in Prescott Valley was, and an eye-popping 74% described it as Good or Great.  Less than 15% described it as either needing help or terrible, the two negative categories, and “Terrible” only received 2.5% of the vote.

“By a 5-to-1 margin, voters in Prescott Valley feel good or great about where they live, which is unusually high.  And the low response rate for the worst category was incredible.” said Constantin Querard, whose firm conducted the polling.

One result that is unlikely to surprise anyone who lives in Prescott Valley are that the top concerns of the voters were Traffic/Roads and Growth, combining for 60% of the answers given.  The two issues are directly related to each other, and both greatly concerned voters.  Water was the #3 issue, and was a top concern to 18.5% of respondents.

“Naturally, when you live someplace great and you see a large influx of new residents, like both Prescott and Prescott Valley are seeing, there is a real tendency for the people already living in paradise to be concerned that what makes their part of the state so special will be spoiled by overcrowding.  Concerns over water echo those worries.” said Querard.

Crime was rarely considered a top issue, which likely reflects Prescott Valley’s status as one of Arizona’s safest cities.

With the city doing so well, it is no surprise that Mayor Kell Palguta’s numbers are also very solid.  His Favorable/Unfavorable numbers were 44/16 and he did well across all party lines.

“Mayor Palguta has as many Democrats viewing his job performance favorably as unfavorably, which is impressive in today’s highly partisan environment.  And he is doing very well with Independents and even better with Republicans.” said Querard, who noted that most Mayors “would kill to have these sorts of numbers.”

“Frankly, his ceiling is quite a bit higher because he’s a first term Mayor and many of the people who are very happy with Prescott Valley don’t yet have an opinion of Kell.  They’ll likely support him when they learn the role he has played in maintaining Prescott Valley’s high quality of life.”

  1. They didn’t poll me. As a 18 year resident, I believe the mayor and council are in the hands of the “growth club” as most are realtors and pro growthers. Senior staff may be educating nave members as well as those driven by a desire to enlarge Prescott Valley. Remember, our area was over drafting our water supply by 11,000 acre feet in 2000. Imagine what the deficit is now.

  2. Agreed, Prescott Valley is a great place to live. However, to make things clearer, I think the category “Traffic/Roads” needs to be expanded to “Traffic/Road/Vehicle Noise”.

Here’s an example. When somebody driving a car with an intentionally loud exhaust and “runs it through the gears” at 5:30 am through Granville Subdivision or other quiet neighborhood, they cause stress, sleeplessness and reduced property values. And, by the time they hit second gear, they’re well past the 25 mph limit and thus a potentially deadly danger to pedestrians and other drivers.

Beware everyone, Prescott Valley is fast becoming “Everybody’s Racetrack”.
