Programs & Events for the Whole Family at Sharlot Hall Museum

From youth camps and Living History Adventure days to Sharlot’s Cellar and the Prescott Indian Art Market, the Sharlot Hall Museum has a lot to offer local communities as summer draws to a close.

Sharlot’s Cellar, the Museum’s largest fundraiser of the year, happens this Saturday, August 27. Marketed as Prescott’s premier wine event, the 2022 fundraiser sold out several weeks ago and features exclusively Arizona wines from Arizona Stronghold Vineyard, Aridus Wine Co., Del Rio Springs Vineyard, Flying Leap Vineyard, and Callaghan Vineyard. Guests will also enjoy gourmet hors d’oeuvres from The Hungry Badger, BiGA by Senses, Pizzicleta of Flagstaff, and Superb Catering, among others. For first access to next year’s tickets, staff recommends joining the Museum email list on their website.

On September 17 & 18, the Prescott Indian Art Market will return to the Museum campus, showcasing work from over 100 top Indigenous artists. This popular juried art show offers a weekend of premier Native American art, music, cultural performances, demonstrations, and more. This year, children’s activities return to the event as well—visitors may leave their mark on a community painting among other artistic crafts. Event tickets are available for presale on the Museum website.

Camps and monthly pop-up programs highlight the Museum’s expanded youth programming calendar. Registration opens this week for “Full STEAM Ahead,” Oct. 11-14, a camp for kids ages 9-13 that immerses them in STEAM concepts (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) with a connection to Arizona history. Pop-up programs, the first and third Wednesdays of the month, make history hands-on with a free activity at the Museum for children and adults—included with admission.

The Living History Adventure (second Saturday of the month, April-October) continues to bring Prescott’s past to life. This year, families learn about frontier life with Living History interpreters and new, expanded activities. Visitors young and old can experience Territorial lifestyles in tactile ways and take something home with them.

The Museum Lecture Series educates and entertains with monthly presentations. Guests enjoy stories of the past brought to light with authors, teachers, researchers, and historians, around a different topic each month. Lectures are free to attend but reservations are required, and seats fill up quickly. Join the Museum’s email list to gain first access.

Looking ahead to the holiday season, the Museum anticipates the return of Frontier Christmas, the evening of December 3, and the hilarious readers theater program, “A Frontier Christmas Carol,” December 8.

There’s something for everyone at the Sharlot Hall Museum. As summer rolls into fall, bring the family to a Living History Adventure, stop in for a pop-up program, immerse yourself in native art and culture at the Prescott Indian Art Market, and mark your calendar for Frontier Christmas. This is Arizona’s story like you’ve never seen before!
