You are invited to an Open House for Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters, an event dedicated to recognizing all those whose generous gifts made this possible, as well as celebrating our Children’s accomplishments.
As a major Benchmark in the “Big Ambitions for Thousands of Little Reasons” campaign, this spring YBBBS moved out of the 4 rented offices they have held in the Prescott and Prescott Valley region and moved into a brand new building central to each of the Tri Cities- yet still in Prescott.
YBBBS has been serving our community for nearly 40 years, but were housed on Gurley Street between Cortez Street and the Elks Theater for the last 18 years. During that time, especially in recent years, the organization grew beyond the building’s capacity. That growth forced them to rent additional space, which created some logistical challenges.
“Right now, because our staff is spread out, our ability to be efficient is declining,” explains David Seigler at the time. “This new facility will allow us to increase efficiency and serve more children. There are more children in need in our community then ever before, we need to expand programs and our ability to sustain them. This building is part of the plan to help YBBBS grow with our community and meet the increasing needs of our community,” explains Seigler. The new Building also has a Mentoring Center, where Bigs and Littles can come together to learn important mentoring and life skills.
The new building is named the Pence Family Center, after the benefactors who donated the largest gift directly benefiting children in Yavapai County ($1 million). Gisi Enterprises, Inc. donated the land, coordinated the construction and helped raise the funds needed to build, as well as those funds for expanding programs.
YBBBS opened their new office on Monday April 28th. Phone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses are still the same as they've been for many years.
