Eleven year old Christopher has been waiting nearly 6 months for a Big. He lives in Prescott Valley with his mom and beloved cat Chaser. Chris is seeking a Big Brother to ease the boredom that sometimes comes along with being an only child in a single parent home.
Because Chris often feels cooped up indoors playing video games, he really appreciates outdoor activities such as hiking, roasting marshmallows over a campfire and catching catfish and releasing them back into the water. He also enjoys simpler activities like walking the dog or spending time at the park tossing a ball around. Chris is also interested in a Big that might take him bowling, to Freedom Station or to Sundogs and Adrenaline games. (YBBBS often gets some free tickets!) He would also like to have a movie-marathon of action movies like 1000 BC and then in the morning eat a scrumptious breakfast, which is Chris’s favorite meal of the day.
In the fall, Chris will begin middle school and he’s looking forward to joining the school band. He doesn’t know how to play any instrument quite yet but hopes to learn how to rock out with the electric guitar. Chris would also like to learn woodworking. He would like to build birdhouses or something useful for around the house. He enjoys working with his hands. Chris needs a Man around to help him figure out life’s choices.
When Chris grows up he would like to be a veterinarian because of his love for animals. Gazing at his lively cat, he explains he loves animals because “they’re furry and soft and make you feel good. They keep you company.” As grateful as Chris is for Chaser’s company when he’s at home alone, Chris hopes that the right Big will come along soon to help keep him company too.
You don’t have to change your life to change his. Big Brothers Big Sisters has programs for couples, families, and individuals; the commitment lasts for at least 1 year, but can be as little as 4 hours a month. Can’t you include a child in an activity you both enjoy? Call YBBBS today to find out how easy it can be to watch a little go a long way.
