The bodies of David Batten, and Elissa Landry have been found in Iowa.
On 05/26/2020 Chino Valley Police Department received information regarding the location of Elissa’s vehicle and that Nick and Elissa’s bodies were with the vehicle in Iowa. Chino Valley Police Department immediately sent investigators to Iowa to assist in the search.
Upon arrival Chino Valley Police Department coordinated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Waterloo Police Department and Evansdale Police Department in Iowa to search a location on Timber Oak Road in Evansdale, Iowa.
On 05/29/2020 the search confirmed Elissa’s vehicle was buried on the property and inside the vehicle were two bodies preliminarily identified as Elissa and Nick. Efforts continue to exhume the vehicle and collect evidence.
Official confirmation on the identities of the bodies found inside the vehicle are pending medical examiner results.
Charges against Mitchell Mincks and anyone who may have assisted him are pending coordination with Yavapai County Attorney’s Office and United States Federal Prosecutors.

Homicide takes the life of 16-year-old Teen
Kevin King was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of minors.
Detectives investigating the homicide of a 16-year-old teen on June 16, 2019, off Perkinsville Road east of Chino Valley, learned that 21-year-old Kevin King from Chino Valley provided alcohol and marijuana to the underage persons involved in the incident.
During interviews and follow-up on the homicide case, individuals who were at the homicide scene admitted asking King to purchase alcohol for them earlier that day. King agreed and sold a small quantity of marijuana and provided alcohol to the group purchased from a Chino Valley business on June 16, 2019. At the homicide scene, detectives noted recovering a quantity of marijuana allegedly sold by King that day.
Yesterday, detectives went to the identified Chino Valley business and located video confirming King’s purchase of alcohol on June 16, 2019, around 1:30 PM. The purchase was then provided to the teenaged foursome. King was then given a ride home before the group headed out to the Perkinsville Road area where the homicide occurred. The group included the previously named suspect, victim, and 2 additional males age 18 and 19. (prior media release attached).
During an interview, King admitted to the allegations and was aware everyone in the group was underage.
King was arrested and booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including Sales of Marijuana, Furnishing Liquor to an Underage Person, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. King is currently on probation for involving a minor in a drug offense in Yavapai County.
He is being held without bond.
