The Arizona House Republican Majority Passes Dozens of Bills Important to Arizona Families

The Arizona House Republican Majority Caucus releases this report on its top accomplishments this week.

Health — We put Arizonan’s health first. Our bill (HB 2530, Representative Jones) that creates a pipeline to ensure pregnant women struggling with substance abuse are offered help — while protecting infants — passed the Senate Health and Human Services committee.

Rural — The needs and concerns of rural Arizonans remain front and center for our Majority. We passed bills through the House Land, Agriculture, and Rural Affairs Committee to protect a person’s right to use a working animal for lawful commerce purposes, like the rodeo and recreational horse sports (SB 1251). Rural Arizona is underserved by veterinarians, so we passed a bill to broaden those who can deliver rabies vaccines from just licensed vets to also include certified rabies vaccinators (SB 1194).

Education — Empowering Arizona’s students is our priority. We were pleased that our bills on STO scholarships for foster students (HB 2504, Representative B. Parker) and law enforcement families (HB 2420, Representative Gress), failing school notices to keep parents informed about the quality of their local school (HB 2539, Representative Pingerelli), and mandatory district trainings on parental rights (HB 2786, Representative Heap) all passed Senate Committees.

Safety — We are the party of law, order, and public safety. We passed lifetime probation for sexual offenders (SB 1284) through House committee. Our bills investing in fire management (HB 2540, Representative Grantham), improving methods to find missing children (HB 2651, Representative B. Parker), declaring drug cartels terrorist organizations (HB 2675, Representative Montenegro), funding law enforcement at the border (HB 2704, Representative Biasiucci), increasing penalties for assaulting police (HB 2485, Representative Payne), and investing in standby pay for DCS officers (HB 2760, Representative Gillette) passed Senate committees. Our bill prohibiting habitations in public roads and sidewalks to protect public safety and the homeless (SB 1024) passed the full House.

Economy — Arizonans have struggled with rising costs for well over a year, including the cost of groceries which are up 11% since last January. We came together with the Senate Republicans to put an end to the food tax (HB 2061, Representative Biasiucci / SB 1063, Senator Borrelli). We also passed a measure calling on congress to allow the state to purchase unused federal lands to deal with Arizona’s housing shortage (HCM 2002, Representative Griffin).

  1. You have wasted taxpayer dollars on non issues like drag Queen shows. Ducey wasted $200 million taxpayer dollars in his storage container stunt, money that could have funded schools or met other needs, such as addressing the homeless problem. You want to pass laws that discriminate and diminish vulnerable LBGTQ people, including children. You have an election denying pro insurrection caucus focused on voter suppression. After decades of successful and non controversial mail in early voting you are trying to eliminate that, another example of voter suppression. You have appointed avowed racists like Wendy Rogers to committee chair positions. You refuse to sufficiently support public education and it is now obvious that you are trying to destroy it, while ignoring the grifting by some charter school operators like Glenn Way of America Leadership Academy. You can try to pretend your party is capable of governing, but Arizonans are finally realizing that the Arizona GOP has nothing of value to offer.
