Yavapai College Announces Accounting & Entrepreneurship Concentrations for its Bachelor of Science in Business Degree

Enrollment Opens April 17

Yavapai College is announcing the addition of two concentrations to its Bachelor of Science in Business Degree.

Concentrations in Accounting and Entrepreneurship have received full accreditation approval from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and will now be available for students when registration opens on April 17.

The B.S. in Business Degree will feature three concentrations for students to choose from. The Accounting and Entrepreneurship concentrations will join previously approved Organizational Management and Leadership Concentration.

About the concentrations:

Accounting

The Bachelor of Science in Business with Accounting Concentration is a degree program that provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the accounting profession. The program emphasizes the development of financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, and taxation skills, as well as analytical and critical thinking abilities. Students will also learn how to use accounting and data analytic software, prepare financial statements, analyze financial data, and develop budgets. Graduates of this program can pursue careers in accounting, finance, auditing, tax preparation, and consulting, among other areas. This program also provides the foundation to transfer into master’s-level certified public accountant (CPA) track programs.

Entrepreneurship

The Bachelor of Science in Business with Entrepreneurship Concentration is a degree program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to start, manage, and grow their own business ventures. The program emphasizes the development of innovative and strategic thinking, leadership skills, financial management, and marketing strategies necessary for entrepreneurial success. Students will also learn how to identify and evaluate potential business opportunities, create business plans, and manage the risks associated with starting and running a business.

 Organizational Management and Leadership

The Bachelor of Science in Business with Organizational Management and Leadership Concentration is a degree program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in leadership positions in various organizations. The program emphasizes the development of effective communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as an understanding of organizational behavior, human resource management, and ethics. Students will also learn how to develop and implement strategic plans, manage teams, and lead change initiatives. Graduates of this program can pursue careers in management, consulting, human resources, and leadership roles in various industries, including healthcare, finance, technology, and non-profit organizations.

About the Degree

The 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Business Degree:

  • Is designed for new students, continuing students, or graduates. Those fresh out of high school, who have no college, or already have an associate degree in any discipline can enroll.
  • Is offered entirely online.
  • Can be completed in the traditional pattern for a full-time student of 30 credits per year, which will take four years to complete or completed as part-time.  Students transferring in credits can complete much faster.
  • Can also be completed through 8-week classes, significantly reducing completion time. The 8-week classes will start in August, October, January, March, and June
  • Is incredibly affordable when compared to other baccalaureate degree options. Students will pay $155 per credit for in-state tuition for upper-division courses.
  • Uses Open Educational Resources for the majority of classes, meaning that there are NO textbook costs for students.
  • Has no associated student fees.
  • Has a Credit breakdown of:
    • 31 credits of general education requirements
    • 44 credits of lower division requirements, which are introductory business courses or credits transferred into the degree from other degrees, programs or colleges
    • 30 credits of upper division requirements in 300 and 400-level courses
    • And 15 credits for the concentration chosen by the student
