The Prescott Badgers will continue their amazing season with an opening round road game versus the Sunnyslope Vikings in Phoenix, on Wednesday at 7 pm.
The Vikings won the 6A Desert Valley Region going (8-2) with road losses at Pinnacle and Liberty. The only loss at home this season was a 63-59 setback to Brophy Prep on December 6. Overall the Vikings finished (21-5).
Sunnyslope is led by John Mattingly and Jai Anthoni Bearden, who both averaged 13 points a game. Bearden is also their leading rebounder, and Mattingly leads in assists.
The Badgers are led by two sophomores. Uriah Tenette, averaging just under 25 points a game, and big man Zane Gaul averages 14 points, and is the leading rebounder at a tad under 10 per game. Senior Jake Hilton also scores in double figures and averages 11 points.
The one common opponent between the two schools is Mountain Ridge. Sunnyslope won 70-32 on December 15, and 70-36 on January 31. The Badgers won 71-61 at Mountain Ridge in their first game of the season on December 2.
A Prescott win would match the Badgers up in the second round with either Central or Campo Verde.
