Local Conservatives to Host Candidates for Arizona GOP Chair

The local chapter of Yavapai County’s Conservatives for a Constitutional Republic (ConCR) has announced that it will host three of the officially announced candidates to lead the Arizona Republican Party (AZGOP) at their next meeting, Saturday, January 21st.  Current Republican Chair, Dr. Kelli Ward, who has led the party since 2020, is not seeking reelection.  ConCR usually meets on the fourth Saturday of each month at 11AM, at  the Bible Baptist Church in Chino Valley. The meeting is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP.

A new Republican Chair is elected every two years at the GOP’s annual meeting. This year’s meeting will be held January 28th at the Dream City Church in North Phoenix. By law, each county in Arizona elects delegates, referred to as State Committeeman, who are eligible to vote for officers and any resolutions or rule changes coming before the meeting. This year, the Yavapai County Republican Committee (YAVGOP) is sending 120 State Committeemen who are eligible to vote at the state meeting. There are currently five officially announced candidates vying for party leadership.   Three of them, Vera Gebran, Steve Daniels, and Lori Martinez, will be speaking at the conservative gathering in Chino Valley on January 21st.

Lori Martinez has deep roots in the Hispanic community. She is a resident of Yavapai County and is the founder of the National Republican Hispanic Assembly in Yavapai County. In 2022 she was appointed to serve as the Arizona Chairwomen for the national organization.  She is a member of the Republican Women of Prescott (RWOP) and is a founding member of the Republican Women for Black Canyon City where she served two terms as co-chair.  Ms. Martinez is a local businesswoman with a background in mortgage financing.   In her campaign literature, she outlines a personal vision and “mission” for the Republican party that includes election integrity, vetting, and the recruitment and training of Precinct Committeeman who she describes as “the foundation of our party.”

Steve Daniels is a long-time activist for conservative causes.  He is one of the founders and current President of the Patriot Party of Arizona.  The Patriot Party is a conservative organization that seeks to move the Republican party in a more conservative direction.  Mr. Daniel describes himself as a “constitutional conservative”. He is running for State Chairman to bring the state GOP back to its conservative roots of limited government and personal freedom.  He advocates for a stronger outreach to conservative voters and conservative minded Independents who have left the party because it has failed to live up to its ideals.

Vera Gebran describes herself as a “political newcomer” who has been forced by recent events to confront “monumental events” that threaten the security of our country and way of life. She believes that America has been “compromised” by issues surrounding election integrity.  In Arizona, she says the Republican Party must be prepared to wage a “war” to save our state.  In her announcement speech for Arizona GOP Chair, posted to her web site, votevera.com, she articulates Trumpian themes of a “country in decline’ and says that “65 percent” of Arizona voters are skeptical of the integrity of our elections.   She is running for Chair of the Arizona Republican party to bring about a “reset” for the party and refocus on winning elections.

The Yavapai County chapter of Conservatives for a Constitutional Republic is a group of conservative activists dedicated to defending and promoting the values of representative government as set forth in the United States Constitution.  They are a private organization and not directly affiliated with a political party.  However, most members are registered Republicans or conservative leaving Independents who are civically engaged or are current or former elected officials or candidates for office.

ConCR meets monthly on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Bible Baptist Church, 3490 N. State Road 89  in Chino Valley.  Recent Speakers include newly elected CD2 Congressman Eli Crane, Congressman Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs, newly elected State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Horne, and LD1 State Representatives Quang Nguyen, and Selina Bliss.  Other state and local officials are slated to speak throughout the coming year.

ConCR is a membership organization.  However, in the interest of informing voters about important issues and candidates, the appearances of guest speakers of high public interest are open to the public.   All those wishing to meet the candidates for Republican Party Chair and learn about their positions on the issues and their plans for the state GOP are cordially invited to attend.  Doors open at 11 AM.  The meeting will begin promptly at 11:15 AM.  RSVPs are requested and should be addressed to concr2018@gmail.com
