On Saturday, November 12, the Sharlot Hall Museum will host “Moments with Junior Bonner”, a story-gathering event focused on collecting and recording community stories about the Prescott-set Steve McQueen film Junior Bonner. Mini-interviews will be recorded with attendees and added to the Museum’s archival collection.

2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the 1972 release of Junior Bonner. The film and its local impact are explored in the Museum’s current exhibit, “To The Rodeo, Pardner!”, which opened mid-June and will remain up until next summer.

To capture and preserve the Prescott community’s memories of Junior Bonner’s presence in town, the Museum will record guests’ stories and remembrances surrounding the movie and add them to   at the Sharlot Hall Museum Research Center.

Utilizing a unique story-sharing platform called PixStori , Museum story ambassadors will guide event attendees through a short interview process. Guests are invited to bring a relevant photo if they desire, which will be scanned and attached to their recorded interview.

“Memories, stories, current-day reviews of Junior Bonner—all are welcome,” says executive director Lisa Hayes. “It was a fun and noteworthy chapter in Prescott history and still impacts us today. We’re excited to use the PixStori platform to record these stories for our archives. And we are grateful to the Arizona Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities for the funding that made this project possible.”

“Moments with Junior Bonner” will be held from 1pm – 3 pm on Saturday, November 12, in the Sharlot Hall Museum’s Education Center with refreshments provided. Admission is free, but RSVPs are requested, either by phone at (928) 445-3122 ext. 0 or online at www.sharlothallmuseum.org.

The Sharlot Hall Museum, located two blocks west of Prescott’s Courthouse Plaza, is one of Arizona’s premier history museums.
