Annual 5K and Halloween Party Benefitting Local Foster Youth Rapidly Approaches

Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation will host its 8th annual Costumes for Kids 5K Fun Run on Saturday, October 29th at the Prescott Courthouse Square. Everyone interested is urged to register before October 3rd to ensure they receive special race-day mementos.

“This isn’t your ordinary 5K benefit race,” said Mona Stephens, Development Director at Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation. “It’s a Halloween party featuring costume contests, carnival-styled games, prizes, music by Magic 99.1, raffles, free food, and more!”

The Costumes for Kids 5K Fun Run event begins at 9:00 AM and runs until 12:00 PM. Walk-up registration and registration check-in begin at 9:00 AM with coffee provided by Starbucks, food, and all other Halloween-themed festivities. At 10:00 AM the 5K begins. At 10:05 the Fun Run (4 laps around the Courthouse) begins. The festivities, music, and games continue until around 11:30 AM when the winners of the raffle and each costume contest category (adult male, adult female, group, boy, and girl) are announced. A free lunch will be provided for all registrants at 11:30 AM.

“Thanks to our sponsors, all the proceeds the event makes from registrations, and race-day activities will go towards Yavapai CASA for Kids programming; that meets the unmet needs of or enriches the lives of over 365 local youth in foster care,” stated Yvonne Bartlett, Executive Director of Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation.

All foster families, kinship families, and youth 16 years of age and under can register free of charge. The cost per runner is $30 and $160 for teams of 8. Don’t miss out on the only Halloween party and 5K event in the area that benefits our area’s most vulnerable youth.
