Patriot Week Events in Prescott Valley, September 9 – 17th, 2022

The Patriot Day (9/11) ceremony will include Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority and Prescott Valley Police Honor Guards, Central Arizona Honor Guard Pipes & Drums, and American Legion Post #6 Honor Guard, with emcee CAFMA Fire Chief Scott Freitag and remarks by Prescott Valley Police Chief Bob Ticer. The ceremony, free to the public, will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Theater on the Green, Prescott Valley Civic Center, 7$01 E. SkoogBlvd.

Former Prescott Newspapers Editor of Non-Daily Publications Heidi Dahms Foster will speak this year at Prescott Valley’s annual Patriot Day program, Dahms Foster is a New Yorker who came West as a young child. She was the editor of the Prescott Valley Tribune on 9/11/2001, and as the terrorist attacks reverberated around the world, she wrote many of the stories about the impact on this small community 2,400 miles away.

Dahms Foster traveled to New York a month after the attacks and visited the Incident Command Center in a fire department just a few blocks from the Ground Zero. Now Communications Manager for the Town of Prescott Valley, she will share her perspective of that trip, and the stories that emerged from a traumatic time in our nation.
