New Director Takes the Helm of U of Arizona Yavapai County Cooperative Extension

The University of Arizona, Yavapai County Cooperative Extension welcomes Matt Halldorson as the new County Extension Director and Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Agent as of July 25, 2022. Matt replaces Jeff Schalau, who retired in July 2021.

As Extension Director, Matt supports 4-H Youth Development, STEM, Family Consumer and Health Sciences (Food Safety, Child Health Care, SNAP-Ed), and Agriculture/Horticulture programs.

Matt spent many years living in Yavapai County and brings knowledge and experience in viticulture, agriculture, botany, forestry and entomology, all of which will be invaluable in his role as ANR Agent. Matt’s ANR responsibilities include support of the Master Gardener program, commercial agriculture, local farms, ranches and municipalities.

Cooperative Extension serves Yavapai County via offices in Camp Verde and Prescott, both having Master Gardener Help Desks that provide free horticulture support, e.g. insect, plant disease, gardening, etc. Please visit our website for more information on our services.
