Opinion: Ingratitude – Buz Williams

“If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and man.” – Mark Twain

Barack Obama was probably the first major politician to suggest that we “fundamentally change” our country. The only way to do that, is to destroy the foundation of the country. In other words, to ignore, greatly alter, or replace the US Constitution.

It is always easier to do something like that through a process of measured erosion rather than by a direct assault. That’s what the Democrats have been doing for sometime. Whether it is through their policies with crony capitalism, (Solyndra scandal), weaponizing federal bureaucracies like the FBI to illegally spy on reporters or by high ranking IRS officials (Lois Lerner),or  delaying or denying conservative fundraising groups tax exempt status before elections.

The question here, though, is why would a politician, a sports figure, major companies and the elite media want to “fundamentally change” a system that enabled them to succeed? It seems counter intuitive. Surely, their political philosophy has become their religion. A major part of that religion is ingratitude.

That is why Obama, who grew up in the lower middle class strata, and later became President of the United States, reviles the system that made it possible for him to attain the highest position in our country. Has he ever expressed appreciation or thankfulness for the opportunities our Constitutional republic gave him? On the contrary, he has expressed his disbelief in “American exceptionalism” that most of us attribute to the freedom provided by our Founding documents.

Ingratitude is the reason LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick and other multimillionaire sports figures refuse to stand for the National Anthem and denigrate the country whose freedom and form of government allowed them so much success. It is the reason so many in the entertainment industry speak, tweet and Facebook their animus for America.

What other reason could there be for a company like Disney to fundamentally change from a family oriented business to a woke, transgender, LBGTQ+ indoctrination outlet? The patriotic peddler of all things American, Walt Disney, would be so distressed and disappointed at his company and its executives ingratitude.

But ingratitude, like elections, has consequences. When woman soccer star Megan Rapinoe began her anti-American stunts in 2015, there was not much ado by the public. But a few years later, when Subway featured her on some of their TV commercials there was a major uproar by Subway franchisees. Many in the public threatened to boycott Subway. Has she been seen on any Subway commercials since then? She proclaimed her lesbianism in 2012 or 2013 and it had little or no effect on her career. She’s been featured on magazines and given awards, but her ingratitude shines through when she badmouths our country.

The current superstar of ingratitude is WNBA player, Brittney Griner. Griner also came out as gay in 2013 and it had no effect on her career. But, just like one would expect from an ingrate, she despises the country where her talents have been rewarded. She wanted to ban the playing of the National Anthem at sporting events.

In February of this year, Brittney Griner was arrested in Russia for smuggling in hashish oil. Earlier this month, she plead guilty and is awaiting sentencing. Our federal government is attempting to get her released through diplomacy. Why? Why would she want to come back to a country she hates, the country she feels has oppressed her and all minorities? Then, again, would months spent in a Russian jail change her perception of the land of her birth or would her ingratitude continue, undiminished?

Perhaps it is time for patriots to express their displeasure with ingrate companies like Disney and Nike, (which pays millions to anti-America athletes like Colin Kaepernick, LeBron James, Megan Rapinoe and Brittney Griner).

  1. Yea, Buz Williams; I think we have done that. I no longer watch NBA, NFL or pro sports where flag and Faith are disparaged. The recent NCAA award honoring a she-man in Penn State Women’s swimming is another two thumbs down on a previously quality college sports association.
Equal justice under law cannot justify a man-woman declaring I am a person of the opposite sex and have it accepted; period.

  2. Woke companies don’t seem to understand that insulting your customer and treating them with contempt is not very smart business.

Should I spend money on anything associated with Disney? Not a chance.

Nike? You gotta be kidding me. Total clown show.

Subway? I used to be a regular customer, but when they put that pink haired America-hater up on their walls, I stopped and haven’t been back since. Must be 2 years now.

    WNBA? What’s that?

    NBA? Fuggedaboudit! Total clown show.

NFL and MLB? I have better things to do with my time than watch a bunch of overpaid America-hating clowns chase a ball around a field. Who in their right mind would pay hundreds of dollars to go to a game only to get ripped off and preached at?

Microsoft? I avoid them like the plague and will keep using my very old perpetual Office license thanks very much Billy Goat Billy Boy, take your subscription services and…
