The Heritage Roofing Mile Hi Classic Horseshoe Tournament took place on the courts at Watson Lake Park on Saturday. The beautiful morning kicked off with the first pitch coming with a very nice temperature of 68*. The weather cooperated with clouds building towards noon, but never threatened the tournament.
Steve Lopez of Kingman and Hal Handelman of Chino Valley took the top spots, by sweeping the competition in each of their divisions. Lopez led the entire field with 131 ringers for a 54.58%. Coming in second in Class A was Steve Harman followed by Bruce Reid.
Class B saw Joe Starika take second. Jay Mast took third behind Handelman, who had the high games of the day, scoring 63 twice.
The Mile Hi Horseshoe Club will host their first evening tournament on Saturday, July 30. Check-in time will begin at 5 pm. Start time is 6 pm and should be a great evening to enjoy the sunset in the distance behind Granite Mountain, as the horseshoe court lights take over.
