On 6/15/2022 at approximately 12:31 pm, Chino Valley officers responded to a single vehicle rollover collision on North State Route 89 at mile marker 332.
When officers arrived, they found a heavily damaged maroon 2001 Ford F250, in a dirt field on the east side of North State Route 89. The driver, a 55-year-old male from Ashfork, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and appeared to have been partially ejected from the vehicle, resulting in
life-threatening injuries. Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) and Lifeline personnel responded to the scene to treat the male.
Traffic on State Route 89 was closed in both directions for approximately 35 minutes to allow Native Air to land a helicopter on the roadway. The male driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Ford was travelling north on SR89. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left east side of the roadway just south of mile marker 332. After the vehicle left the roadway, it continued off the shoulder of the road, struck a barbed wire fence, and
overturned after hitting some trees. The vehicle came to rest upright and rolled into the middle of a dirt field, several yards from SR89.
At this time, the investigation is ongoing and identification of the driver will be held pending the notification to family and the completion of the investigation.
