The warmer weather reached Prescott on Saturday, but the spirit of the pitchers made for a very competitive tournament in the MI Windows Watson Lake Special, at the Mile Hi Horseshoe Club courts. Shade was key in between the games, and thanks to the club sponsors, we were able to achieve this.
The club this past week was able to install a gazebo to bring some much needed shade to the Watson Lake courts. Thanks to Hal Handelman, John Lincoln, Cody Williams, and Mike Brewer, along with John and Eric from the Parks and Recreation Department, for their time and efforts, in being able to accomplish some much needed maintenance to the courts.

Trisha Lincoln, of Prescott, earned her way back to the top spot as she was crowned tournament champion in the Class A division, getting past second place Steve Harman, and third place Robert Chubinsky.

Chino Valley’s own Hal Handelman overcame all the handicappers to sweep the Class B division. Being seeded in the top spot in his division did not seem to bother Hal, who who has been quietly moving up in the rankings. Second place went to Terry Sloan, and Cody Williams, who narrowly won a three way tie to take third.
Lincoln had the highest ringer percentage on the day with 42.5%. Handelman was second with 39%, and Harman was third at 35.5%. The windy conditions seemed to contribute to the lower percentages on the day.
Prescott Valley will host their tournament on Saturday at 9am, followed by the Mile Hi Horseshoe Club hosting their next tournament on June 25. Start time is 9 am. The clubs welcome anyone interested to come out to watch the tournaments, or email at or
